With over 18 years of experience in the Hydronics Industry, Alan Zanidean is the Sales Manager of Axiom Industries, a leading manufacturing company based in Saskatchewan, Canada. His career began as a Sales Representative with a manufacturers' agent, and he has since ascended to a leadership role with Axiom Industries. Alan is deeply involved in the industry beyond his professional role. He volunteers with the Canadian Hydronics Council, currently serving as Council Chair, a group dedicated to helping advance the hydronics industry.

Outside work, Alan enjoys embracing the outdoors with activities like golfing, quadding, and spending time at the lake with his wife, Jennifer, and two children. A summer enthusiast, he cherishes the vibrant seasonal experiences that Saskatchewan has to offer.

Daniel Torres Regional Product Director, Ariston Group

With over 15 years of experience in the HVAC industry, Dan brings a well-rounded background spanning field operations, engineering, and product leadership. He began his career as a field technician and installer, gaining hands-on expertise across boilers, furnaces, heat pumps, rooftop systems, and commercial ductwork.

Transitioning into engineering, Dan spent six years as an R&D Lab Technician for a leading HVAC manufacturer. He later moved into application engineering, where he supported pre-sales efforts by working closely with manufacturer representatives and customers to properly size and apply HVAC solutions across a variety of use cases. Building on this technical foundation, Dan spent six years in product management, leading portfolios that included air-to-water heat pumps, residential air handlers, portable cooling systems, gas-fired equipment, and commercial hydronic heat pump solutions.

Currently serving as Regional Product Director at Ariston Group, Dan is focused on advancing residential boiler and air-to-water heat pump solutions. In this role, he leads market-driven product strategies, guides new product development, and drives initiatives aimed at expanding market share through innovation and a dual-brand approach.

Doug is currently an independent sustainability consultant, after having spent nearly 30 years in equipment sales for Carrier –a major manufacturer of HVAC equipment.

Doug is a graduate of Ryerson University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a licensed professional engineer in Ontario. He is also a LEED AP and has a certificate in sales development from Humber College. Doug holds the Ashrae Certified Decarbonization Professional (CDP) certification. He has also completed the Carrier basic system design course and has taken advanced training in rooftops and splits, ahu’s, chillers, controls, and system selling. He qualified as a train the trainer with Carrier. Doug started in inside sales and has held additional roles as software coordinator, chiller and applied systems specialist, territory manager, branch sales manager, regional commercial sales manager, and engineering sales manager.

Doug joined ASHRAE in university and has participated in chapter, region, and society activities ever since. He is currently a Director at Large (DAL) on the ASHRAE Board of Directors and is the BOD EXO to the Training and Education Committee on Pub Ed Council. He is a past president of the Toronto chapter, CRC chair (twice), inaugural RVC for GGAC in Region II, served on the nominating committee for 6 years, and the conferences and expositions committee (CEC) for 3 years and was the technical chair for the Chicago 2015 conference. Doug is a past DRC for Region II, and is a member of TC 9.1 Large Building AC, TC 6.7 Solar and Renewable Energy, TC 2.5 Global Climate Change, TC 9.8 Specialized Bldg HVAC Applications, Cold Climate Design Guide TRG9, and is past Chair of Building EQ, and past ARC and member of standards appeal board. Serves as Regional Representative for Region II. Doug has also served on the finance and planning committees. He chaired the topical conference on Industrial ventilation in Toronto in June 2022, and was General Chair of the Annual ASHRAE society meeting in June 2022 celebrating Toronto chapter’s 100th anniversary. He has been a distinguished lecturer since 2020. Doug is part of the Decarbonization Task Force Training and Education subcommittee. He holds the ASHRAE exceptional service award, distinguished service award, the regional award of merit, and the chapter service award.

He also served on part 6 HVAC of the Ontario building code as technical advisory committee chair and was part of the stakeholder group for Ontario’s energy and water reporting and benchmarking. He was also part of the program advisory committee for Sheridan College.

Doug was a reviewer of the latest ASHRAE 3rd edition of Air Conditioning System Design Manual, and has also reviewed ASHRAE handbook chapters relative to TC 9.1, and been actively involved in the cold climate design guide, and the building EQ committee for years.

He is married to Cathy and they have one son Sean. An avid sports fan, Doug is a diehard Toronto Maple Leafs hockey supporter, and hopes to see them win another Stanley cup during his lifetime.

Forest developed a passion for sustainable design working for his father’s construction business in Santa Cruz, California. This led him to complete an engineering degree at MIT before joining Ove Arup and Partners in London, UK where he specialized in sports venue design. Forest later pursued a PhD in computational design at Stanford University before joining the faculty at Stanford’s Center for Integrated Facility Engineering (CIFE) in 2013. He went on to lead software and design automation at Katerra, a technology driven off-site construction company, before co-founding Parspec in 2021. Forest currently lives in Palo Alto, California with his wife and young daughter.

Jean-Claude Rémy is a business development manager for Uponor. A 35 year + veteran of the plumbing & heating industry, his knowledge comes mainly from “on the job” training. This includes years of plumbing, heating and industrial specialty sales at the wholesale level, handling anything from plumbing fixtures to heavy industrial applications. Jean-Claude also has experience in technical corporate training for commercial and industrial applications and working with specialized Uponor engineers on some of the most challenging technical applications for PEX in the industry. He was the national trainer for Uponor for years for basic and advanced radiant heating and cooling applications. Jean-Claude now concentrates on working with engineers and Code officials for promotion and designing commercial and institutional plumbing and hydronic distribution systems in Eastern Canada.

John Goshulak is a Professional Engineer working in the hydronic heating industry for almost 40 years. For the past 21 years he has been a part-owner and Vice-President of Weil-McLain Canada, the wholly owned Canadian master distributor of Weil-McLain boilers and indirect water heaters. When not travelling to exotic locations around the world, John is active at various levels within the industry. He is currently the ISO TC291 Canadian Delegate on Gas-burning Appliance Safety as well as CSA Chairman for the JB118 committee on Ventilation and Depressurization; he is also one of the original yet still active members of the B214 Hydronics Installation Code committee, along with various other committees.

He was also Chairman of the Canadian Hydronics Council twice and has been active as the hydronics representative both with HRAI and AHRI. John has chaired various marketing initiatives including the Beautiful Heat campaign and the Great Lakes Conference. For this and many years of other related committee work, John has been recognized with an Award of Merit by the Canadian Hydronics Council and the international Carlson-Holohan Industry Award for Excellence. In his spare time, he runs the occasional triathlon and works on various projects at his cottage.

Marc Antoine Vachon has worked in the lighting industry since 2009, specializing in the design and optimization of outdoor lighting systems. With an academic background in opto electronics, he brings strong technical expertise to the field of optical engineering and illumination performance.

For 12 years, Marc Antoine worked as a lighting designer across several companies, focusing primarily on outdoor environments. During this time, he developed extensive experience in photometry, optical performance, and application driven lighting solutions.

Since 2018, he has been a member of the IES Roadway Lighting Committee, contributing to industry standards and best practices for roadway and outdoor lighting.

Marc Antoine is currently an optical designer within an outdoor R&D team, where he develops next generation optical systems aimed at improving performance, efficiency, and visual comfort in outdoor lighting applications.

Pierre-Marc Olivier is an experienced lighting industry professional with more than 20 years of technical and commercial expertise in outdoor lighting solutions. He graduated from the Collège Ahuntsic in 2000 as an Electrodynamic Technician and later earned a Certificate of Administration from the University of Quebec, combining strong technical foundations with solid business acumen.

Member of the Board of Directors of the IES Montréal section since 2019, he has occupied various position in this non-profit organisation promoting the best lighting practices.

Throughout his career, Pierre-Marc has worked across the full spectrum of the lighting ecosystem—including distributors, agencies, and manufacturers—holding diverse technical and leadership roles such as photometric technician, technical support, cost analysis, UL/CSA certification expert, technical support team manager, and sales representative. This broad background gives him a unique 360-degree understanding of lighting products, performance, regulations, and customer needs.

In his current role, Pierre-Marc focuses on building relationships with municipal and utility’s decisionmakers to promote connected lighting solutions that bring real value to their infrastructure projects. His approach blends technical depth, practical experience, and a commitment to helping cities adopt smarter, more efficient, and future ready lighting technologies.

As the Canadian Sales Manager for Wholesale Products at Taco Canada Ltd., I lead a team of sales professionals and distributors across the country, delivering high-quality hydronic heating solutions to residential and commercial customers. With over 20 years of experience in the heating and air conditioning industry, I have developed strong skills in new business development, key account management, and team building.

I am also passionate about advancing the hydronic heating industry and promoting its benefits to the public and the policymakers. I have served as the Chair of the Canadian Hydronics Council (CHC) from 2012 to 2014, and as an Executive Board Member of Beautiful Heat, a collaborative marketing program launched by 11 heating equipment manufacturers. In these roles, I have contributed to the development and implementation of various education, codes and standards, and consumer awareness initiatives. I am currently a member of the CIPH Membership Committee and the CHC Committee, where I continue to support the growth and innovation of the hydronic heating sector.
